To give our students experience and knowledge about the development of technology, we did a field trip to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, in Museum of Telecommunication and Museum of Military. In the first museum, the students got a chance to watch a movie about communication technology developed by Indonesia, including the launching of Palapa Satellite that made Indonesia one of the most modern country in Asia at that time. It was unfortunate that the movie seems not to be updated since decades ago, just like other facilities in the museum. The good thing is that the museum has some dioramas and artifacts of communication tools from the simplest one, like shells of nautilus, and some types of telephone. We actually planned to visit Museum of Transportation after that; unfortunately, it was being renovated and closed for public. So, we visited Museum of Military, which showcased different kinds of weapon used by Indonesian soldiers from time to time.
After the visit, the students made a reflection using PMI form (Plus, Minus, Improvement). They also wrote the timeline of communication development in Indonesia.
