A lot of teachers use MindMap as one of teaching strategies; they ask the students make it to summarize lessons learned or brainstorm new topics. However, not all of them give the right instructions to the students. Even worse, some of them do not really understand the concept of MindMap. In one of the PD sessions, Ms Icha shared some points people often misconstrue about MindMap: 1. It is based on the idea that color association can give strong effect in our mind, so it has to full of color. Each color should represent one big idea (one branch). 2. There should be difference in the size of the branch. The biggest one is the big main idea, then it becomes smaller as the ideas are broken down. 3. It should use key words only, instead of lengthy sentences. 4. Pictures should be added to represent the key words. If all points above are implemented, then one example of MindMap will be like this:
